When the “World Poker Tour” television show was launched it became a global sensation, and now professional POKER is watched and played by tens of millions of people on a daily basis! The “World Poker Tour” television show brought the game of poker into the everyday public consciousness. (JUST LIKE WE INTEND TO DO WITH CHESS)

The WPT tournaments also incorporated another important element. This was a contestant “BUY-IN” business model. This is where players entering the tournaments “BUY-IN” at $2,500. $10,000, $25,000 or more per contestant. The players either paid the entry fee themselves or found a team of sponsors, or ‘backers’ to pay the “BUY-IN” entry fee. This provided huge monetary awards for the final players.
